Electronics Prototyping & Open Tech Lab: Design, Solder, Test, and Repair
The future is built by those who understand it. At [Your Lab Name], we believe that technological literacy is not a luxury—it is a necessity for liberation. Our Electronics Prototyping Lab is designed to give you the tools, space, and community support to go from concept to circuit, from solder joint to working prototype.
Whether you are an experienced engineer, a hobbyist tinkering with Arduino, or a beginner looking to learn, our lab is your playground. We offer professional-grade soldering stations, testing equipment, and the ability to fabricate custom PCBs in-house using our advanced laser systems. And when things break, we fix them together at our regular Repair Cafés. That is Community Production in its most empowering form—democratizing the knowledge and tools to build and repair our own technology.
Soldering & Assembly Stations
Our soldering stations are set up for precision work, whether you are through-hole soldering, surface-mount assembly, or reworking complex boards.
Professional Soldering Irons: Temperature-controlled stations with fine tips for precise work.
Helping Hands & Magnifiers: Essential for fine-detail work and small components.
Testing & Measurement Equipment
Our testing bench is equipped with professional-grade instruments to help you debug, validate, and optimize your designs.
- Oscilloscopes: Visualize electrical signals in real-time to troubleshoot and analyze circuit behavior.
- Multimeters: Measure voltage, current, resistance, and continuity for basic diagnostics.
Custom PCB Fabrication with the xTool F2 Ultra
Our xTool F2 Ultra diode laser is capable of creating custom printed circuit boards, enabling rapid prototyping and iteration.
Direct PCB Engraving: The F2 Ultra’s diode laser can remove copper from standard PCB blanks, creating custom traces and pads for your designs.
Integrated Workflow: Our staff can help you translate your designs into laser-ready files.
Community Programs & Spaces
Technology is better when we build it together. Our electronics lab is more than just machines—it is a community hub for learning, sharing, and repairing.
Learn from experienced fixers while repairing your own devices!
Our tech community events are completely free for Fab Lab members!
Repair Café
Our Repair Café is a regular community event where volunteers and members come together to fix broken electronics, appliances, and gadgets.
Free for members!
- Skill Sharing: Learn from experienced fixers while repairing your own devices.
- Waste Reduction: Keep electronics out of landfills by giving them a second life.
- Community Resilience: Build the skills to repair, not replace, building local self-sufficiency.
Plank & Packet Lounge – Open Source Tech Lab
The Plank & Packet Lounge is a dedicated space for collaborative learning and open-source development.
- Open Source Focus: We champion free and open-source software, hardware, and knowledge.
- Collaborative Projects: Work with other members on community-driven tech projects.
- Peer-to-Peer Learning: The Plank & Packet Lounge is a space for teaching, sharing, and learning from one another. We are all both students and teachers.
