CLOSED-LOOP 3D PRINTING
Join the circular economy today
Our Plastics & Recycling Lab allows you to take failed prints, support material, and post-consumer plastic waste and convert it directly into usable 1.75mm 3D printer filament. This isn’t just recycling; it is Community Production in action—taking control of our material supply chain right here in the workshop.
Our in-house recycling workflow is powered by Sustainable Design Studio‘s robust and repairable machines. Here is how we turn waste into opportunity:
The Shredder (Desktop Shredder V2)
Break down plastic waste into consistent, manageable flakes. Our shredder handles bottle caps, failed prints, and small plastic
items efficiently, preparing them for the extrusion process.
The Extruder (Filament Maker)
This is the magic machine. The SDS Filament Maker extrudes the shredded plastic flakes into 1.75mm 3D printer filament. Capable of processing
rPET, rHDPE, and rPP, this machine allows us to produce custom filament spools on demand, directly from our waste stream.
Safety First (Fume Extractor V2)
Safety is non-negotiable. We utilize the SDS Fume Extractor V2, which features a HEPA pre-filter and an activated carbon filter to
capture volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and particulates, ensuring a clean and safe workspace for our members.
